JOB RESOURCES IN MARKETING

QUIRK'S MARKETING RESEARCH REVIEW (US and Worldwide) Favorite Free job posting

http://www.quirks.com/jobmart/

Good volume of openings at market research firms and corporate research departments, sorted by date. Listings are free to browse and free to post. Quirk's also provides plenty of free extras such as an industry event calendar, supplier directories (need mystery shoppers?) and an extensive list of industry associations. A superior site.

SOCIETY OF COMPETITIVE INTELLIGENCE PROFESSIONALS: JOB MARKETPLACE (US) Favorite

http://www.scip.org/jobs/

A heap of jobs in market measurement, competitive analysis and business planning. Search engine lets you filter the list by recency and job criteria, but the list is not too long to browse in its entirety. Click here for SCIP's list of recruiters in the field.

(February 2001, revised July 2002)

BRANDCHANNEL.COM (Worldwide)

http://www.brandchannel.com/careers.asp

Not a job bank in its own right, BrandChannel warrants a mention as "the world's only online exchange about branding." Articles and white papers thrash out hot topics in marketing. The Careers page links to important international conferences and major job sites around the world. Also useful is the directory page, http://www.brandchannel.com/directory.asp, with links to firms in Brand Strategy, Corporate Identity, Direct Marketing, Interactive Design, Product Design, Public Relations, Research and other categories. Stylish design.

THE CHICAGO ASSOCIATION OF DIRECT MARKETING: JOBS (Illinois)

http://www.cadm.org/Jobs/default.cfm

This is the networking mecca for direct marketers in Chicago and the Midwest. A dozen special interest groups (b2b, database marketing, e-commerce...) help you find other birds of your feather. Browse the Member Directory to find contacts at companies you'd like to work for. Jobs board lists several dozen marketing opportunities from entry-level to more senior.

COLLOQUY JOBS BOARD (US and Canada) Free job posting

http://www.colloquy.com/

Small, high-quality jobs board for candidates in loyalty marketing. Midrank and senior positions. Free registration required before you can browse the jobs. Listings are free to post. Many articles on loyalty marketing and CRM on this site. No lapdog, Colloquy casts a skeptical eye on a Botox loyalty program (one free jab for every four paid visits to the clinic).

CURT ROSENGREN'S MARKETING DREAMJOBS (Pacific Northwest)

http://www.rosengren.net/jobs/

Career coach Curt Rosengren posts high-tech marketing job openings on his Web site. On a recent visit we found about a dozen senior and mid-level listings. Employers may post jobs for free, paying only if they hire someone through the site. Rosengren's main focus is his Passion Catalyst practice, "helping people discover their passion and create a career that incorporates it."

DIRECTMARKETINGCAREERS.COM (US)

http://www.directmarketingcareers.com/

Has become a ghost town, with just one job listed when we last checked.

(June 1999, revised August 2003)

THE DIRECT MARKETING ASSOCIATION JOB BANK (US)

http://www.the-dma.org/jobbank/

Dozens of jobs in direct marketing, account management, catalog sales, list sales, data analysis, even hard-to-find magazine circulation positions. Jobs are listed by date posted. We found plenty of opportunities at the analyst and manager level, and a few for VPs and directors. Jobs are free to browse, and free to post if your company belongs to DMA. (A posting fee applies for non-members.) All visitors may post a resume. Some caveats: The old job listings need a good purging, and clicking back and forth between the search returns and specific listings is a bit awkward, but we like the guide for college students, How To Use Direct Marketing Techniques to Get the Marketing Job You Want.
